Okay, so I can understand why the UN condemns our long standing Embargo with Cuba. But I have a serious issue with what Cuba’s Foreign Minister had to say.
“The blockade is an uncultured act of arrogance,” Rodriguez said. He likened the policy to “an act of genocide” that is “ethically unacceptable.”
Genocide, really? Is it ever an act of genocide when we send aide to Cuba after a devastating hurricane? Because I’d like to think setting aside an outright fucking embargo to help is an act of generosity. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that they both start with ‘gen’ there just thrown into the same boat.
That’s not to say I agree with our embargo. We deal with China, which still uses a communist govt. Why should Cuba be any different? Communism isn’t something to fear like it once was, everyone knows it’s an idealists society which as a people we won’t fully accept (at least the majority of people who like advancing and don’t like doing all the work so half the population can slack off).
Basically it comes down to this, if you want to show friendship you don’t go saying to the other person “It’s all your fault we have so many things going wrong, and your an ass for not recognizing it. Your stupid for not helping us more and we don’t like you for that. So, do you want to be friends?” I’d personally hit someone for saying that to me, but I’m a shoot first ask questions later kind of person, so my opinion might be a little skewed. Seriously, if they want to outright blame us for their failings, they might want to look a little closer to home and realize where the true problems are. Why don’t they form relations with other countries around them to put up different trade routes, seriously, not that complicated (well, theoretically, but you get my point).
