These numbers, I have a problem with. 21.6% of registered voters actually cast a ballot. 21.6%. That seriously makes me sick. How is the democratic process supposed to work IF THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO CAN VOTE DON’T DO THEIR DUTY! [yes, caps lock key was needed] I mean, really, how hard is it to vote? It takes all of 5 minutes to fill out a ballot and your talking giving up what an hour a night for about a week to do research on the measures and people? Come on, it’s not that F’ing hard.
If you’re one of those people who think ‘my vote doesn’t count’ well, if every single one of your “non-counting” votes was cast it would have made a very large difference. It’s not the voting process that’s broken it’s the people. Now, if you’re one of those people who thinks they don’t have time to vote…do everyone a favor and leave. Goodbye, see you later, don’t let the screen door hit you on the way out. If you don’t want to help fix the problems, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. It’s not a ‘right’ to not vote, it’s a PRIVILEGE to HAVE THE ABILITY TO VOTE. If you don’t like the candidates, write your damn friends in. Write Mickey Mouse in, Write Caboose in, Hell write Brett Favre in. It doesn’t matter, so long as you vote.
Anyone want to know what’s wrong with their county, state, or nation? Look no further than those who Choose to not have a voice. Who Choose to let others decide what happens. For a nation founded on the people leading we’ve sure come a long way…down.
