Well, after my old laptop basically decided it hated me and nothing would work right on it (probably my fault for doing so much damn testing in a live environment rather than sandbox it) I got a new one. This thing is a 17″ behemoth; however, it has everything I want and the RAM is upgradeable to 8GB (you know as soon as 4GB laptop modules become affordable). Anyway, I tried to do an install of Windows 7 on the old one and that didn’t work right, even though the ‘upgrade adviser’ said it was supported. Then I tried rolling back to XP and needless to say not even that worked right; which was totally perplexing as that is what was running on it before [when everything was more or less running well]. I’m a little depressed that I had to get a new laptop, yet being a techie I’m happy with the new machine. Now I just need to get all the programs installed and configured the way I like and I’m set.
